A Twist of Fate

Author's Note: This is my compare and contrast essay called A Twist of Fate this is my piece proving my understanding of compare and contrast

Ingenious, the genius of a machine built from great curiosity. What comes to mind when you life changing invention?A young boy named Milo is trudging on, bored at the thought of life. He doesn’t care for school and has nothing to do. (Or at least that's what it feels like). But in an exciting turn of events, he comes home one day to find a magic tollbooth in his room. He gets in his toy car, goes through the tollbooth, and finds himself in a magical place where he realizes the importance and significance of life. Although, the possibilities of finding random tollbooth in your bedroom isn’t very realistic the opportunity of discovering a new outlook life is achievable.

Though Milo’s difference between of the scenery of his normal life and his life in the magical place aren’t very similar they still have comparable importance. In Milo’s regular life back at home he is very bored and unaware of all the amazing things that occur in his life. But while Milo’s life in the magical place was beautiful at the beginning he slowly realizes that just because he is in a place where everything appears interesting, “it isn’t what it seems to be”.

Not only were Milo’s sceneries related, his personalities didn’t seem to be altered either. The ego’s of Milo appeared to be the same in each place. Although he was surrounded by amazing things, and opportunities, his mindset remains the same he is still bored at the fact of life. But once he realized how special his life was back home he aches to return to his life back home.

Although his personalities were matching, the story is very much relatable to Annie. The story Annie is about a young girl who is bored of living as a little orphan girl and decides to run away to discover a new life. Similar to the Phantom Tollbooth because they’re both trying to find a new beginning in their existence.

Even though, there were many similarities there was also a significant amount of differences. One difference was that his two lives were taken place in an normal place and the other a magical place. The magical place was full of fantasy, so it was very fictional. And the regular place was very plain, and realistic.

In conclusion, I believe that this book has a lot more similarities than differences. The differences in this book really prove to make the book a fantasy and very far fetched. But still some of the similarities make the book realistic and a possibility but the twist of fantasy definitely make this book a fantastic read.

Pierced Love

Authors Note: This is a cause/effect piece about the book The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane demonstrating that I have a clear understanding of how cause/effect effects a story.

“Open your heart. Someone will come. Someone will come for you. But first you must open your heart.” When Edward Tulane, an expensive china doll bunny, leaves his owner to set out to find the meaning of love, he doesn’t realize how difficult it’d be to expose his heart. He left his owner for distinct reasons-- he didn’t think he belonged ;he wants to figure out what it feels like to be loved. He never thought that he’d have such a hard time overcoming being in love.

The climax begins when he goes on a journey to find what he considers as love. He meets three people: an ill little girl, an old fisherman, and a toy store owner. The old fisherman makes him understand what being appreciated means but unfortunately he becomes separated from him. When he meets the ill little girl he finally falls in love with being this girl’s doll. But tragedy strikes and she dies from her severe sickness, he loved her but in the end “nothing gold can stay.” But if he had never loved her as much he did, he might have  accepted the death of little girl.

Not only does the death of the little girl effect him, it also caused him to never feel that passion towards another. He finds himself in an old worn toy store, where he sits with his soul crushed. People came in and bought him but every time he was sold he was returned. But he didn’t care at all--he missed the love from the girl.

Although the effects of Edward’s behavior caused him to be distressed, this story is a classic love and despair. This book reminds me a lot of the story Romeo and Juliet for the reasoning that in the story the main character Juliet is in denial of losing her beloved. Similar to The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, because Edward is very effected to the little girl’s death kind of how Romeo felt when Juliet supposedly died. And if they both wouldn’t have fallen for their significant other’s love, it wouldn’t have changed their lives so dramatically.

Even though Edward didn’t get to experience love for a prolonged time,he still was able to figure out the true meaning of passion and devotion. And if he hadn’t put himself out there he would’ve never gotten to fall in love and be happy for the amount of time he did. So overall, I think that involving himself with the young girl really affected him in a life changing way, he learned how it felt to belong, and feel truly loved.

A Clean, Well-Lighted Place- Response

What is one event, character, or plot element that is similar to a modern text/film? Explain.When the young waiter began to judge the old man over his looks "an old man is a nasty thing" this makes me think that the the youthful waiter is very naive and worried but won't show it, the relationship between the old man and the ignorant waiter is very similar to the proverb of Moses because Moses is an old man with a lot of wisdom but the pharaoh didn't respect him because of his age he thought that Moses was stupid, didn't know what he was talking about, the pharaoh got bad karma due to that. Sort of like the old man and the waiter but not entirely 

The Meaning Behind the Truth

Author’s Note: I wrote this essay showing my understanding of text analysis. I did this by analyzing the symbolism in the poem The Raven. In this essay you will see symbolism throughout the colors of the scene, description of the scene,a quote, and I will also state the similar symbolism in a different text.

Symbolism, the deepest meaning of a story, thought or any motivation. So basically, anything you think; establish will have an allusive meaning behind it. The poem The Raven is about a man dwelling in his own mental anguish. In the poem, you find a man whose sulking from the despair of losing his true love, Lenore. He’s attempting to read a book, trying to get his mind away from the sorrow--until he hears the slightest pound on the door. He apologizes to the stranger that he’d imagine would be outside, he drags himself up from the chair, approaches the door; opens. Nothing, being very skeptical and delirious I must be imagining this, I must be he closes the door hastily. But alas, in flies a Raven--with eyes so cold. The symbolism through out this poem will disturb you; leave you wondering,guessing, thinking. You also find the truth behind each text.

One of the main symbols during this story was the authors personalization of night. Immediately as the poem begins it starts out with “Once upon a midnight dreary”. Midnight, the description of the dreary, midnight equates to darkness and disparity. The dreary he describe is nevermore mentality, he’s concerned that he’ll never regain the affection of his love.

Even though the symbol of midnight is bewildering, once you begin to distinguish the mindset of the main characters agony symbolism starts to come together in way that is frightening but you actually understand his terror. When he describes the scenery you realize that symbolism lies during the whole poem. “And the silken, sad, uncertain rustling of each purple curtain” the curtain is purple, that symbolically shows mystery, similar to the mysterious intellect of his mind.

Although the color symbols really make you begin to question the coincidence of the symbolism through out the story, the third biggest symbol of the poem will afflict you more. As you start to apprehend the poem you start connecting the symbols to the story. “And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, "Lenore?" him calling out to Lenore symbolizes that his wit; the hope of his love returning to him is slowly fading to reluctance.

Lastly, once you piece the symbolism through out this story you'll notice it is a lot similar to the famous story by William Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet, during the story they use many dark colors such as black, red, purple trying to symbolize to leading to unfortunate ending of that story very much comparable to The Raven.  Once you analyze a text of story it very easy to find symbols showing the conclusion, it’s almost like the author is trying to unwillingly give away the entire story.

The symbolism in a piece of literature really influences the readers the emotions towards the story or poem; short story and gives you many clues to how it will end. The symbolism behind the quotes throughout the poem The Raven, show the broader meaning trailing behind the text. So next time you are wanting to analyze a short story, poem or book;quotes try to find those immense giveaways through the symbolism in the content.

There's More Pain Beneath the Scars

Author’s Note: This is an expository essay on child abuse, I wanted to spread the awareness of child abuse. I want to show people that child abuse is a terrible and disgusting thing.

Every 1 in 5 children is either emotionally, physically, or sexually abused in our country. This is an estimation of about 3 million kids. There have been many cases of child abuse filed all throughout the United States. Many of those cases have resulted in the victim going to rehab or therapy because of all the stress put on them. Child abuse is truly a horrid and cowardly thing and all offenders should receive an ample extent of consequences for causing physical, emotional, and sexual distress on children and teens.

First off, if you suspect of any child being physically abused some things to notice,according to dreamcatcherforabusedchildren.com are unexplained bruises, welts, and cigarette burns around head, throat, upper arms, buttocks, thighs, lower back, palms, soles of feet, and abdominal area. While some behavioral signs you should be aware of are excessive fear of guardian and antisocial behavior such as running away or having fear of returning home. Imagine trying to live with these conditions! Unfortunately, many children have to go through the pain and suffering of child abuse. I can’t picture what kind of satisfaction the abuser would possibly get out of it. You’re hurting an innocent human being. With that said how severe would you make the punishment of the felon that committed child abuse? For all the stress and pain the child has to go through, I feel that the offender should receive the death penalty.

Along with physical abuse, the child has to go through pain and the memory, while with emotional abuse the child has to live with just the memory for the rest of their life, so it’s still severe but not as severe as physical abuse. Some physical signs of emotional abuse to take attention to are obesity or anorexia and speech disorders, while some behaviors to observe are cruel and age-inappropriate behaviors such as pleasure from hurting other children and adults, getting pleasure from being mistreated, and bed-wetting and wetting and soiling themselves. Now, when I say emotional abuse I bet you’re thinking it would be coming from an adult, but an example of emotional abuse that happens everywhere is bullying. Some children and teens that get bullied end up committing suicide because they feel like they have nowhere else to go with their life, but back to the more intense form of emotional abuse. To think that people are amused by causing children emotional distress is unthinkable. Sadly, it’s true, though. The question is, how severe would you make the punishment of the felon that committed emotional abuse? With all the insecurity the child could possibly result with, my verdict towards the offender would be life in prison with no chance of parole.

Although the past two forms of abuse were pretty intense, I feel that sexual abuse is the worst form of abuse ever because the offender doesn’t only cause pain and leave a scarring memory, but they also could get their victim pregnant or give them a sexually transmitted disease which, sadly, could potentially cause death. A few physical injuries to watch for are STDs, pregnancy, and bleeding and/or bruising. To follow that, some behavioral happenings to take caution of are if the child or teen is having difficulty walking or sitting; regressive behaviors such as thumb-sucking, bed wetting and fear of darkness, and disturbed sleep patterns such as, recurring nightmares. This is the kind of crime that we need to protect our children from, because what could happen, is devastating. My perspective on the consequences that the offender should result with is, once again, the death penalty, because of the life threatening conclusion that could possibly arise.

All offenders should receive an ample extent of consequences for causing physical, emotional, and sexual distress on children and teens because of how truly terrible child abuse is. To lower the amount of child abuse that goes on throughout our society, report any suspicious behavior to local authorities. If you would like to find out more about child abuser, then check local charities to help support the fight against child abuse. Now, the only question left to ask is, how severe of consequences would you make for an offender of child abuse.

Vibrato

Author's Note: This is my word choice and context/figurative language piece from the point of view of a wave of vibrato

There is lots of figurative language through out this piece like rhythm, rhyme, and metaphors. I use this kind of imagery and tone to show the emotion/mood of the piece. So the emotion I wanted to express throughout this piece was supposed have a very easy going flow; nonchalant tone. While I read this piece the mood that I discover in myself is honesty. I want to make the reader envision something like a straight line with wave at the end. The straight line represents the long beautiful beginning of the note and the wave at the end represents the slight mistakes which is supposed to make the reader think of life. Kind of how life is can be admirable and alluring but you'll always have a rough patch but those mistakes cause your life to be truly captivating. 

There's More That Meets the Eye: Point of View: Revised

Author's Note: This is my point of view piece that has been revised showing that I have a clear understanding of point of view. I also have a creative scene in the perspective of the mother.

I sit alone in the kitchen staring blankly at my coffee. I stir it around. I see her, she’s sad and disheveled. If only she didn’t resent me. Why can’t she see me as someone who could talk to her about her problems. I don’t understand what I did to make her shut me out, ignore me. I love her more than anything. I wish she could see that. In Fact of Life #31, the independent character of the mother, and the carefree esteem of the enemy, leaves Katima Flynn wondering how she’s supposed determine her point of view. From Katima’s viewpoint, conflicts are created by her mother being unfair and not as loving towards her and that’s creates the tension in their relationship. But if you were to look at from her mother’s perspective it would be completely different. In the book Fact of Life #31 it clearly shows how the story can be altered, if read in the aspect of others.

The first way that Katima’s point of view could influence the apprehension was when Libby started to become closer to her mother. If the story would’ve been told in the perspective of Libby, she probably didn't think she was causing problems despite the fact she was creating strain in Katima’s life because in chapter 13 Libby begins to realize all of the problems that she is causing Flynn household due to the fact that she has been spending time with Katima's mother. However since it’s being told in Katima’s point of view she is bitter and jealous about the situation; seeing her mother using her down time to hang out with Libby was effecting her opinion of her mother causing the tone of the story to be more frustrated. But throughout the entire book Katima had the same opinion about life: “Life is confusing, so don’t live your life trying figure it out. Just live”. This really proves that even though you might have a difficult time discovering the meaning of life you have to live your life everyday and enjoy it. It relates to point of view because Katima at the beginning of the book has a hard time understanding why things happen to her. And it affects the people around her.

Although the way the story is told is important, the readers interpretation is also very critical. Since the story is being told in the perspective of Katima her mother she sees her as this unreasonable and cold hearted person considering that during the climax of the story her mother told her that she was misbehaving which made her want to rebel against her mother even more. So me being the reader I would expect her mother to be mean and senseless . But if the story were to be told in the perspective of her mother, Katima would be looked at as a sensitive and immature teenager. For this reason you can clearly tell that the narrator of the story is Katima because you can tell by the tone of the writing that this is being told by the rebelling teenager instead of the worried mother.
 
The perspective is one of the many things that would be altered if the point of view were to be changed. Not only would the perspective change the interpretation would also change because if say the story Cinderella was told by the evil stepmother you would have a completely different opinion of Cinderella.That is why it so crucial to understand point of view so you will know who the story is being told by. So if you want enhance your reading experience and make yourself a more advanced reader then you can try to read in other characters perspective's.

American Dream

The book, My Brother Sam is Dead is about young Tim a boy who is growing up during the Revolutionary War. And all he ever wanted was to join the Rebel Army and fight with his older brother Sam. He found a chance to help his father give the soldiers food. He was overjoyed to be able to help his father. But once he sees a glimpse of the war, his mindset changes. He is frightened to be in the war. A majority of the people were more than afraid to fight against the British because they know what they’re capable of. But they fought anyway because they wanted nothing more but to gain their independence from the British. But this is clearly fiction and different from the real world in many ways.

The Hessian were the most ruthless soldiers the British could afford. They were hired to fight for King George to win against the colonists. They were like this in the book but also in reality. The Hessian's were very determined to beat the Colonists because if they didn’t they wouldn’t get paid. The Hessian's in the book seemed very evil and didn’t believe sparing lives of people--Even children! But they seemed like they were the same way in real life.

The Hessian may have been determined, but not as much as the Americans. The Americans weren’t getting money in return for winning. They were gaining their independence and freedom. Sam is an example of a dedicated American soldier. He wanted nothing more than to win the war and come back home to his family with dignity. If there weren’t soldiers like him the Americans would’ve never won. That is major similarity between the two.

Not only were there similarities, there were also many differences too. One way they were different was there was there weren’t rebel armies fighting until the end of the war. And also Sam wasn’t a real soldier he was a fictional character created to give an interesting plot to the story. He was too young to fight in the war any way. Also the largest difference is that the Hessian's weren’t allowed to kill American soldiers without the British consent.

In conclusion, the book had lots of facts and was very similar to real life. Some of the differences made the book a little far fetched and was hard to believe. But it still had similar realistic comparisons in the book that made it factual. Although Sam wasn’t a real soldier he had the personality of soldiers in the war that believed in freedom and made the Americans win the war.

Becoming My Own

Authors Note: This is my conflict resolution piece called Becoming My Own proving my understanding of conflict resolution

In the story Fact of Life #31, there are several conflicts, like when Katima argues constantly with her mother. But the main conflict is when Katima grows jealous of her mom’s relationship with her enemy. The conflict is person vs. person, but Katima can’t solve her problem until she discovers at end who she really is and wants in her life.

In the book you can clearly see that Katima has a lot tension with her mother she wants to be able to tell her mother her issues with their relationship but she nervous about how her mother will react. She wants to tell her mother that she wants more attention and be treated more fairly. But she’s afraid to be brushed off as if her problems didn’t affect her. Or being yelled at for distracting her during work because she always working.

But the conflict is resolved when her mother finally came to Katima and asked what was wrong with their relationship. Once they were on better terms Libby, her enemy got pregnant and since her mother worked as a midwife her mother gave Libby her services for free and the created a whole new problem. And Katima decided to start spending more time with friends and avoiding her family. So once she began resenting her mother she realized that there relationship is stronger when they’re constantly together, and they decided that they were going to give each other space. And that’s how they solved that conflict and the whole family agreed that them being not as close helped her whole family.

The conflict was a lot like My Brother Sam is Dead because before Sam went to war Tim and Sam used argue a lot but once Sam got back he saw that time became independent from his family and became a mature man. So even though Tim is younger than Sam he wanted to be just as much as a man than him. In Fact of Life #31 the main conflict is Katima becoming independent from her family and as the book moves on she gained her independence from her family by separating herself from her mother

Have you ever lost someone very dear to your heart? Someone who would bring happiness when you were in tears. In the poem Beautiful Angel by Christopher Warner the author tries to comfort you and make you understand that sometimes you need to realize that it’s time to let go. But when I read this poem the only thing I was focusing on was the line “A meaningful life that suddenly ends”. So I wrote my poem on the loss and sorrow because that’s the feeling I got while reading this poem. In a poem it’s hard not to predict the ending so that is my reasoning of writing my prediction piece on continuing a poem. I based my part of the poem on the saying “A meaningful life that suddenly ends” because I thought that it was a very delicate way of saying “a terrible loss”. That is thought I had in my mind while reading this poem. And that was how my continuing of the poem became so clear to me. This just goes to show that the meanings of poems really depend on the way the reader portrays it to be.

Theme Essay

What would do if you were constantly judged because of the color of your skin, how would you deal with that kind of discrimination. If this happened to you wouldn't you use all your determination and perseverance to make a change in your society. In the book The Help by Kathryn Stocket, in the story the main character Aibileen Clark is constantly disrespected for the color of her skin so she decides that she is going use all her determination and perseverance to make a change in her horrid living society.

Aibileen Clark the main character in The Help has constantly struggled with having determination/perseverance  because ever since her son died she hasn't been herself she had lost all hope that this crazy society she lives in will never change. But when she meets Skeeter a witty young girl with a story and courage of her own to change the world. Abilene decides that she is going to help Skeeter. And that's when you see the spark of determination/perseverance she once had comes back into Abilene. So that’s how she showed her determination/perseverance by helping Skeeter write the book even though she knew it was against the laws.

Another sign of determination/perseverance through out the story was when Skeeter was determined to show her opinion on civil rights because when she was young she was raised by her maid Constantine and she believes that she made Skeeter into the person she is today. So she decides that she’s going to make a change in the society by writing a book in the prescriptive of the help. And that’s when she meets Aibileen and Minny two maids who have more than there fair amount of stories to tell. So that’s another example of how Skeeter showed her determination/perseverance was by standing up for what she thought was right.

So another story where the theme was determination/perseverance because all through out their story they were determined to make their relationship work. One way they used determination/perseverance was when even though Bella knew it was never going to be easy for them she still continued to proceed in being determined to make their relaship work. The last way they used determination/perseverance was when Edward tried to avoid Bella for her safety although he loved her he was also determined to make Bella. So this just goes to show that all books can have common themes.

Determination can spark anywhere, in anyone, in anything. And it can even occur in a place where you think all hope is loss and. I just takes one person with determination/perseverance. And once it does you’ll start to see a change. And then gradually you’ll see a wildfire grow until perseverance is inevitable.

Character Analysis

Author's Note: This is my piece proving that I have a clear understanding of character analysis

In the middle of the series “Twilight”, by Stephenie Meyers, the main character Jacob Black(werewolves) had a very strong hatred for the Cullens (vampires). There has always been feud between the vampires and werewolves. They’ve always been complete opposites, the wolves are warm blooded and the vampires are known as the “cold one’s”. But through out the series the begin to realize that they need to team up to protect Bella. And in these difficult situations Jacob begins to comprehend that his wolf pack and Edward’s coven work together really well, even though he was a blood sucking vampire. But as Jacob began giving his trust to Edward, they figure out that they both want the best for Bella. These are a few of the reasons why Jacob changed during the series.

Through out the series, everyone started seeing Jacobs attitude towards the Cullens change when he began to worry about Bella’s safety more and more. He was becoming to understand that they both want similar things. But if Jacob wasn’t cooperative and refused to bury the hatchet with the Cullens, it would affect the entire series. Some of problems they would face would be Bella wouldn’t be as heavily monitored and that cause the outcome of her getting ambushed by enemy vampires. But since he did build up a certain amount of trust with Cullens, they had the capability of beating their opponents(as in the Cutlery, evil vampires). If he would kept the same attitude during the series the hatred, anguish, and unforgivable behavior would have continued. And they wouldn’t have made such an impact.

Not only had his attitude changed towards the Cullens, he also changed his thoughts towards Bella’s boyfriend Edward. Once the wolf pack started to see Jacob’s attitude change the others started realizing that Edward and the vampires weren’t as bad and evil as people made them out to be. But when they started getting along more there alliance began growing stronger. And now Edward and Jacob don’t have to be so tense constantly now they're comfortable with each others presents.

This kind of alteration from selfish boy into responsible man not only occurs in the Twilight series. It is quite similar to the main character in the story The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, because Edmund starts out as selfish boy who only worries about himself but as life gets more difficult he comes to the understanding that he need to fight and protect the things he loves the most. Although his change in the story is more drastic than Jacob’s they both change for the best.

Those are just some of the reasons how Jacob changed through out the story. But overall Jacob made those changes to create better self image. And it definitely paid off in the long run. Now he allies when he needs them. And now he knows that people won’t try to threaten Bella because she is protected by an unbeatable alliance of the strongest vampires and werewolves

Patriots Pen Essay

Authors Note: This is my Patriots Pen Essay. About the bonds of our great nations

Dear Founding Father's,

What is the meaning of our nation? What bonds us together to make us whole and my experience with the country. Well, when I think of that question here is only one thing that comes to mind is something that needs to be ended. Like war, the definition war to me means: sadness and hatred towards one another sadness is something that happens during this fight for something that isn’t worth fighting for. I feel that when I remember hardships in U.S history it is hard to hold back tears from all the sorrow of innocent people dying for no good reason what so ever. For someone to sacrifice the own live for salvation of  our country. Is courage, bravery, and passion. 

 It was hard for me to watch this tragedy unfold on this day of remembrance of those who saved so many lives and died doing it. There are those who believe in forgiving the people who caused that chaos. I feel like people like shouldn’t be forgiven for taking the lives of many innocent people. Yesterday, I watched Red Dawn a classic movie from the 80’s. This movie was set in the 1980’s in which the U.S was invaded by the Soviet Union.

 The story is about teenagers who try to make themselves known to the enemies that they weren’t just some dumb high school kids they meant business. However, the onset story was supposed to be World War III. This team of elite teenagers called themselves the Wolverines because of their school mascot.

This just goes to show that it doesn’t matter how old you are you can always make a fight for what you believe and having courage and braveness. So if you ask me I will always say I am proud to be American. I don’t care how cheesy it sounds it is true to me America is a place for a new start. It is a clean slate no matter what your back round. It is a place for happiness. Even though we have gone through some hard to times we will always be a great country for all.

Cause/Effect

Authors Note: This is a cause/effect piece about the book The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane demonstrating that I have a clear understanding of how cause/effect effects a story.

When Edward Tulane an expensive china doll bunny leaves his owner to set out to find to the meaning of love, he doesn’t realize how difficult the journey will be. The climax of the book is when he left his owner for distinct reasons, he didn’t think he belonged ; he wants to figure out what it feels like to be loved. Although, he cared for his owner Abilene, he always longed to be loved by someone. Being cuddled,kissed, and praised is all that poor Edward Tulane has ever wanted. And the effect of this is he goes on a journey to find what he portrays as love. He meets three people: an ill little girl, an old fisherman, and a toy store owner. The old fisherman makes him understand how being appreciated means but unfortunately he becomes separated from him. When he meets the ill little girl he finally finds falls in love with being this girl’s doll. But tragedy strikes and she dies from her severe sickness. And poor Edward is heartbroken, so the little girls brother takes him to the toy store owner. Where he sits in the store with his soul crushed. People came in and bought him but every time he was sold he was returned. But he didn’t care at all he missed the love from the girl. So the cause and effect in this story is he finds love in the little girl so the effect was he was never satisfied with his several owners. This story is very similar to the book "Matilda" by Roald Daul because in the story she never feels like she is loved by her parents similar to Edward but with his original owner. So in conclusion, there are many stories that have this similar plot line to this story.

Conflict/Resolution

The story Rule of Life Rule #31 is about girl who is a junior in high school whose always been known as “that girl”.  And she is wanting to be unique individual like her mother but struggles coming out of her mother’s light.  The main conflict of the story is she just wants to be noticed not as “that girl”  but as Katima Fylyn the outgoing, sporty, and sweet girl. And she also wants to be recognized by her dream guy Manny.  But unfortunately she has to deal with mean girls like Libby Giles and her posse of copycat brats. The resolution for Katima was that she finally realizes that doesn’t need anyone but herself because she comprehends the fact she does not need to act a certain way to get attention.  In the Manny comes to the conclusion that Katima is who she is and nothing he can say will change her state of mind but he comes aware of that’s thing he loves most about her.

Excitement

Author's  Note: This is my Narrative Essay about getting my One Direction tickets

Present after present,  nothing that I wanted. It seemed as if the more presents I opened the more pointless each gift got. Why does my family hate me? I thought to myself. Finally, I got to last gift and I had waited to open this one. It was the most simplistic present in the pile of gifts. I quickly grasped  it, then glanced at it for a moment. Then I started imagining what it could be; then I could hear my heart beginning to beat faster as if I had just finished sprinting the mile. Gradually began to rip the wrapping paper. Trying to be dainty in every tear I made. Suddenly, I lost my diligence. Quickly I started destroying the wrapping paper. At that time I opened the diminutive box; inside was an envelope.

I glided my finger through the small opening of the envelope. Something had fallen out card un-noticed, I read the card in languid manner.  Abruptly realizing not only was there a card, there was a single sheet of paper. I lifted it out of the box and read it. Immediately, I leapt of chair and hollered so boisterously I could hear ringing in my ears. It was the One Direction tickets I’ve been wanting for a year now! I was in complete and utter shock. After my outburst I galloped over to my Dad then gave him a bear hug. “THANK YOU!” I said to him.

Shortly after, everyone began to leave.  And as I said my last goodbye to my family. I bolted into the living room and managed to stack all of my birthday presents perfectly in my limp arms. I felt like one of those employees at a movie theater trying my absolute best to stack the candy in a pyramid. Running upstairs is really hard to do while carrying a ton of birthday gifts. But, I couldn’t help myself all I wanted to do was lay in bed and let my mind wander about what the concert will be like.

I can only imagine how insane it will be to see them in person. Then I grabbed a notebook and wrote down “June 21, 2012, I just turned fourteen three days ago and in this last hour my life has already gotten ten times better. Who would’ve thought that I would acquire One Direction tickets! Insanity” I closed the notebook. And l got hold of my pillow and screamed so loud into it I think China could hear me. So jazzed about hearing their goddess like voices in person. I wonder how I will react when I am there I thought. I’m guessing there will be tears.

As I lie in my bed, thinking how incredibly amazing it will be to see my five favorite guys with my own two eyes. I pick up the box that the tickets were in and realized there was two other tickets in the box. I was kind of skeptical why there were three tickets in all instead of two.

So I walk downstairs and “Hey, Dad?” I asked.

“Yes?”

“Why is there three tickets?”

“Well one for you and an adult, and a friend.”

I freak out and then I get confused and think…Who Am I Going To Bring?
